Comentario: Everything You Need to Know Before Buying a Gaming PC
Ports and Connectivity
The types of port and connectivity options present on a gaming desktop are not always the same. Take the time to peruse the specifications, and verify that the system you are considering can support your device and your connectivity preferences.
Here are some pointers for selecting a PC with the right additional ports and connectivity features:
Video output. An external monitor connects to a port on the back of a PC, which is usually connected to the GPU in a gaming system. The most common types of display connections are HDMI and DisplayPort. Gaming monitors may require certain port specifications to take advantage of higher refresh rates or resolutions, so be sure to check compatibility when making your choice. You can read more about screens and screen connections here.
USB. It is useful to have a high-speed USB port for connecting mice, headsets, external storage drives, and other peripherals. A few good specifics to know when checking out the specs: a revision number such as 2.0, 3.0, or 3.2 reflects the transfer rate of the port, where higher means newer and is usually faster. Classifications such as "Type-A" and "Type-C" refer to the shape of the connector. You may want to have one of each type, and the more variety, the better.
bluetooth. Not all desktops support Bluetooth out of the box, but many accessories that use Bluetooth or wireless functionality will come with a USB dongle that will allow their use if this is the case. If you plan to use a wireless accessory, make sure that the accessory is equipped with a dongle, or that the PC supports Bluetooth. This information will be listed in the specifications.
audios. The video port on the front panel is convenient for connecting headphones or speakers that require a 3.5mm headphone jack. Many modern audio solutions such as gaming headsets and speaker systems use USB to connect, which is another reason to prioritize a large number of compatible USB ports.
Network. While many new gaming desktops support Wi-Fi, some only provide an Ethernet port for a wired connection to the internet. If you need wireless connectivity, check that it is listed in the specifications: it may be referred to as WLAN in some cases. For the fastest wireless connections and optimal compatibility with wireless devices and routers, look for Wi-Fi 6 support. For fast wired connections up to 1 Gbps, look for Gigabit Ethernet.
